Preparation

We hadn't used the trailer much in the last few years and we knew that it had some water damage from roof leaks.  As it turned out it was worse than we knew, far worse than I hoped.

In June I tore open  both sides of the trailer at the bedroom in the front to expose the extent of the damage and to begin repairs.  Here are a few pictures of the trailer after the exterior fiberglass panels were cut away.

Left Side below bedroom slideout.  There is a 2X8 that is gone in this view that ran forward and rearward.  It was rotted away.  It was the same on the right but there is no slideout.  The 2X8 was (is) the base of the bedroom walls.

Left side again in front of bedroom slideout.  What more needs to be said?

Three views of the right side.  Same story.

As bad as this is it was generally solid rear of the truck-bed overhang so that's where I started.

My next posting I'll show more pictures of the trailer as the repair progressed.  I hope you find it interesting, I know I  did!  Also, feel free to comment.  I'll enjoy reading all of those and putting any good tips to use.
