We made it to Black Mesa State Park but not before dark. It was a long drive. We didn't leave until 11:00 Monday morning. Here are some pictures from around the park. We should have taken some on the drive out here because there is beautiful scenery of Oklahoma mesas and the "Oklahoma Painted Desert" between Enid and Weatherford. But we didn't stop because we were trying to beat sundown.
It's ranch and farmland in far western Oklahoma but the thing that always impresses me the most is the landscape between Guymon and Boise City. There is not a tree to be seen and I think you can see a true horizon as if you were at sea. Also - to note - gas station are rare. There are no businesses of any kind on the 62 mile route.
That first day through OK is LONG!
ReplyDeleteIt sure was. I like that drive though.
